How we build the rate
How we build the rate
Every rate on this site is the average of the reference sites of the Argentine market, minus the values that stray from the rest. No single source decides the number: we read all of them, drop the ones that sit apart and average the others. The value you see is the best indication of the market at that moment, not one dealer's price.
The sources
- DolarApi
- every dollar rate and the official euro, with an update time
- Ámbito
- the reference the press quotes: every rate and both euros
- CriptoYa
- blue, official, card, wholesale, MEP and CCL via the AL30 bond, and USDT
- Bluelytics
- blue, official and euros
- ArgentinaDatos
- the daily archive since 2011 behind the history pages, and the calendar of public holidays
- ExchangeRate-API
- the euro-dollar parity of the day, the reference the euro sources are checked against
The average
For every rate, and separately for buy and sell, we take each source's value, drop the ones farthest from the rest (with four sources, one; with more, two) and average what is left.
The euro is measured differently, because two or three sources quote it rather than four: with that few, averaging two distant values gives a number none of them says. So each source is held against its own dollar — the blue euro against the blue, the official against the official — at the day's euro-dollar parity, and one that strays from that reference does not go into the average. It is a check, not a quote: we never publish dollar times parity as if a cueva had said it.
The change
The day's move is measured against the close of the previous trading session: our own close for that day when we have it, otherwise the previous close Ámbito publishes alongside its price. A Saturday, a Sunday or a holiday has no close of its own, and the page says so instead of inventing one.
The cadence
We update every hour from 10:00 to 19:00 Buenos Aires time on business days. At weekends and on public holidays the last close is shown.
The archive
The history pages take the daily closes from ArgentinaDatos since January 2011 and complete them with our own daily readings. There is no public archive for the euro: its series starts on the day this site went live, in September 2026.
What we do not do
We do not buy or sell currency, do not recommend dealers or exchanges and do not give financial advice.
